EREA Reverses Course, Agrees to Back $774M in Abuse Claims Against Christian Brothers

EREA, which controls former Christian Brothers schools in Australia, reversed its prior refusal and agreed on July 24, 2026 to replace the Christian Brothers as defendant for all current and future abuse claims. Survivors' claims total an estimated $774 million; the insolvent order held only $217 million.
