Police unaware meth pipe sales have been banned since 2014, briefing paper reveals

Importing and selling methamphetamine utensils has been illegal under the Misuse of Drugs Act since 2014. A briefing paper prepared for Health Minister Simeon Brown, released after RNZ enquiries, found police, retailers and the public had limited awareness of the ban. Police had previously told RNZ selling meth pipes was not specifically prohibited — citing the wrong section of the Act.
