ETH Zurich's Fat-Burning Breathalyzer Is Already on Sale, Using CGM-Style App Correction

ETH Zurich researchers built a handheld breathalyzer measuring exhaled acetone to detect fat burning, published in Device on July 21, 2026. It is already commercialized as Nutrion by Alivion. A companion app detects breath-pressure errors and adjusts sample timing — the same sensor-plus-algorithmic-correction pattern that drove continuous glucose monitors from clinic to consumer. Validated across 12 participants; larger studies are needed.
