
Iraq's al-Zaidi tells Iran no hostile action will come from Iraq — while urging Tehran to stop backing armed groups
Iraqi PM Ali al-Zaidi, in Tehran on July 23, pledged Iraq would not accept hostile action against Iran by any party. Yet analyst Ghaleb Al-Daami told Al Jazeera a key objective was urging Iran to stop supporting armed groups in Iraq and delivering a U.S. message backing Iraq as mediator between the warring states.
