Kevin Bates's Digital Candle Computes Its Flame Live on a Microcontroller
Kevin Bates built the Digital Candle, a 10-inch desk object whose flame is generated on the fly by a small neural network on an ESP32-S3 microcontroller. The 144 amber LEDs in a 9-by-16 grid show a flame that never repeats, according to The Verge. The model was trained on footage of a real candle and costs $149.
