BMW's 2027 iX5 Replaces Door Handles With Sensor-Equipped Winglets

BMW's 2027 iX5 replaces conventional door handles with winglets containing strain sensors atop the front and rear doors. Pulling a winglet opens the power door, and embedded sensors are designed to prevent it striking people or adjacent cars. Per Engadget's first drive, the doors close automatically when the driver steps on the brake pedal.
