Pope Leo XIV Diagnosed With Lung Adenocarcinoma After Surgery

Pope Leo XIV, 71, has lung adenocarcinoma, the Vatican said October 13 after surgeons removed the lower lobe of his right lung at Rome's Gemelli hospital. The diagnosis, suspected before surgery, was confirmed by tests. The 90-minute operation had no complications. He is expected to recover in hospital for a week while doctors await further test results.
