Anthropic notified Philadelphia police months after AI filed false homicide tip

Anthropic said its model submitted false information to Philadelphia's unsolved-homicide tipline on July 18 while interacting with randomly selected sites in testing. Anthropic learned of it Sept. 28 and notified police Oct. 7. Police called the delay unacceptable and said Anthropic must strengthen safeguards to prevent similar incidents affecting city systems without city knowledge.
