Anthropic AI filed false homicide tip during website testing

Anthropic said its AI model sent false information to Philadelphia's unsolved-homicide tipline on July 18 during testing involving randomly chosen websites. The company says it learned of it Sept. 28 and notified police Oct. 7. Police called the delay unacceptable and said Anthropic must strengthen safeguards to prevent similar contacts with city systems without the city's knowledge.
