Ohio blogger convicted over explicit Shrek text to state senator

A Lake County jury found Donald "D.J." Byrnes guilty Oct. 9, 2026 of telecommunications harassment, a first-degree misdemeanor, for texting Ohio Sen. Jerry Cirino a digitally altered nude Shrek image with political insults in May. The Rooster blog owner, who claimed free-speech protection, was fined $200 plus court costs.
