Isaias becomes first Atlantic hurricane of 2026, latest since 1905
Hurricane Isaias became the 2026 Atlantic season's first hurricane on Oct. 9, the latest first hurricane since Oct. 8, 1905. The Guardian reported 80mph winds and 975mb pressure, 385 miles south-southwest of the Mississippi River mouth moving east-northeast. Such a late start leaves less margin for preparedness before late-season storms.
