Amazon to Retire Fire Tablet Brand for Alexa Tablets

Amazon will phase out the Fire tablet brand in favor of Alexa Tablets, devices chief Panos Panay confirmed in a Bloomberg interview. The Alexa Tablet lineup runs Android instead of Fire OS, with full Google Play Store access. On Fire tablets, Gmail, YouTube, Drive and other Google services were browser-only.
