French school protests turn violent in Rennes, Lyon, Strasbourg

French high-school protests over teacher shortages, dilapidated buildings and overcrowding turned violent, with clashes in Rennes, Lyon and Strasbourg, fires started by student protesters at at least two schools and police firing tear gas on Oct. 6. Reuters video reporting described them as the most violent school protests in decades. Authorities deployed riot police.
