Anthropic launches Claude Haiku 5.5 with 75% lower running cost

Anthropic introduced Claude Haiku 5.5 on Oct. 7, 2026, describing it as its cheapest, fastest and most capable small model to date. The company states it costs around 75% less to run on average than Haiku 4.5 and targets high-volume inference such as summaries, compactions, database queries and classification.
