Anthropic launches smaller, cheaper AI helper

Anthropic launched Claude Haiku 5.5 on Oct. 7, 2026, its cheapest, fastest and most skilled small AI helper to date. It costs about 75% less to run on average than the prior Haiku 4.5. It is made for jobs done thousands of times a day, like writing summaries, tidying notes, checking records and sorting requests.
