Anthropic releases faster, cheaper Haiku 5.5 model

Anthropic released Claude Haiku 5.5 on Oct. 7, 2026, calling it its cheapest, fastest and most capable small AI model so far. It runs for about 75% less on average than Haiku 4.5. It is built for high-volume use — many repeated tasks such as summaries, condensing prior work (compactions), database queries and sorting (classification).
