
JRF warns Labour faces worst parliament for living standards since 1961
The Joseph Rowntree Foundation warns Labour is on course to oversee the worst parliament for living standards since 1961. It predicts after-housing-cost incomes will be £440-£770 lower in real terms in 2029-30 than when Labour took power, driven by energy and housing costs. Economist Chris Belfield says families are set to be poorer than a decade ago without bold action.
