Australia's High Court dismissed MACH Energy's appeal on 7 October 2026 in a 3-2 ruling, upholding rejection of the Mount Pleasant coalmine expansion in Muswellbrook, New South Wales. The majority found regulators failed to consider mitigating overseas emissions. The project would have doubled output to 21 million tonnes annually to 2048.
