
Greens promise Hauraki Gulf bottom-trawl phase-out in coalition government
The Green Party says it would phase out bottom trawling in the Hauraki Gulf – Tīkapa Moana if it enters a coalition government after the election. Co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick announced the policy in St Mary's Bay on 5 October 2026, according to RNZ. Sealord has objected to the pledge, according to Undercurrent News.
