Texas Senate race breaks state spending record at $240 million

Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and Democratic state Rep. James Talarico's Texas Senate race has topped $240 million in combined ad spending, shattering the state's campaign spending record, NPR reported Oct. 5. Paxton backers account for about $175 million to $71 million for Talarico backers, outspending them by more than 2 to 1.
