Mark Thompson to Stay as CNN Chairman After $110B Paramount Deal

Mark Thompson will remain as CNN chairman and editor-in-chief after Paramount's $110 billion Warner Bros. Discovery acquisition closes. Paramount named Thompson in its Skydance leadership team on October 5, 2026. He will report to CEO David Ellison and co-CEO Ynon Kreiz and said the combined company will support independent news.
