Euro falls to $1.1161, 17-month low on French debt fears

The euro fell below $1.12 to $1.1161 on Oct. 5, 2026, down more than 0.8% to its lowest against the dollar since May 2025. The move came amid concerns over France's debt burden. The drop extends a slide of about 1.2% in October 2026 and leaves the euro about eight cents below its January 2026 peak of $1.20.
