Narooma payphone becomes Australia's first heritage-listed payphone

A Telstra payphone outside Narooma Plaza on the Princes Highway on the NSW south coast has been listed as Australia's first heritage-listed payphone. Listed on social and historical grounds, it was recognized for its cultural role as a community lifeline during the Black Summer bushfires, when it connected residents to the outside world.
