Dollar index hit 99.961, near five-week high
The dollar index rose 0.3% to 99.961 on Sept. 16, Reuters reported, the highest in nearly five weeks. The index tracks the dollar vs major currencies. A strong dollar can lift import prices and squeeze foreign-currency borrowers. In my view, this reflects bets on U.S. rates, not a firm trend.
