TOP's proposed land tax would cost $19,250 a year on $2m home

The Opportunity Party proposes a 1.75% annual tax on urban land values, RNZ reported. Its modelling puts the bill at about $19,250 a year on a $2m property. The party says payment can be deferred until sale. The figure comes from RNZ's 4 October illustrative comparison of household budgets.
