Flydubai co-pilot was previously barred from flying in Oman over extremist concerns

Hamam al-Hammami, the Omani co-pilot accused of attacking his captain with an emergency axe aboard September 30 Dubai-Tel Aviv Flight FZ1073, had been barred from flying in Oman over alleged "extremist" views and moved to an Oman Air administrative role before Flydubai hired him, a Gulf diplomat said. Cross-border vetting will face scrutiny.
