Flydubai Co-Pilot Had Earlier Lost Flying Duties in Oman

Hamam al-Hammami, the Omani co-pilot accused of attacking his captain with an emergency axe on Sept. 30 Flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv, was previously barred from flying in Oman over alleged extremist views, a Gulf diplomat said. He was shifted to an Oman Air desk job before Flydubai hired him, raising questions about cross-border pilot vetting.
