Hochul Names Attorney General as Special Prosecutor in Cornell Assault Case

New York Governor Kathy Hochul appointed Attorney General Letitia James as special prosecutor for the alleged 2024 gang rape at Cornell's Chi Phi fraternity after Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten declined charges. Hochul said new information undermined confidence in the local prosecutor and she would "not allow anyone to sweep this case under the rug."
