Afghanistan and Pakistan give conflicting tolls for Kunar, Helmand airstrikes

Pakistan struck two sites in Afghanistan's Kunar and Helmand late Wednesday, Sept. 30. Kabul says nine women and children were killed, 11 wounded, and three houses destroyed. Islamabad says 22 fighters were killed in hideouts used by armed groups. The competing tolls could not be independently verified, leaving civilian harm unresolved.
