Burnham to end pension triple lock from 2030 to fund care
Prime Minister Andy Burnham said he would end the state pension triple lock from April 2030, after the next election, to help fund a care service. He told Labour conference the lock would stay until 2030. Under his plan, pensions would rise by inflation or 2.5%, without the earnings link. Officials suggested it could save £15bn a year by 2040.
