Myanmar Airstrike Kills at Least 33 Near Rakhine Market

The Arakan Army and a rescue worker say Myanmar's military dropped two bombs near Kyauktaw market in Rakhine State on September 28, 2026, killing at least 33 vendors, shoppers and pedestrians and wounding 36. The Arakan Army has captured 14 of Rakhine's 17 townships since November 2023. I expect air strikes to remain the junta's response to ground losses.
