Turkish comedian convicted of insulting Erdoğan, gets 19-month sentence

An Istanbul court on 28 September 2026 convicted comedian Deniz Göktaş of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, imposing 11 months and 20 days for that count. With a second conviction for insulting religious values, his combined sentence totaled 19 months and 10 days.
