Turkish Comedian Convicted of Insulting Erdoğan, Gets 19 Months

An Istanbul court on 28 September 2026 found comedian Deniz Göktaş guilty of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, sentencing him to 11 months and 20 days on that charge. A second guilty verdict for insulting religious values brought his total sentence to 19 months and 10 days.
