Russian drone hits Kyiv science academy, killing one

Russia struck the National Academy of Sciences building in central Kyiv with a drone on Sept. 28, 2026, killing at least one person and wounding at least three others, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. Academy president Anatoliy Zagorodny said many staff were inside. The 19th-century building is near the German embassy and National Opera.
