10-year Treasury yield climbs to 5.214% in fresh multiyear high
The 10-year Treasury yield rose 4.9 basis points — a basis point is 0.01 percentage point — to 5.214% on Sept. 28, 2026, a fresh multiyear high, the Wall Street Journal reported. Yield is the return for holding U.S. debt. I see higher long-term yields as direct pressure on mortgages and business loans.
