Cost for U.S. to borrow for 10 years hits multiyear high
5.214% is what the U.S. government now pays to borrow for 10 years, up 4.9 basis points on Sept. 28, 2026 to a multiyear high, the Wall Street Journal reported. A basis point is 0.01 percentage point; think of yield as rent for borrowing money. In my view, that pushes up mortgages and business loans.
