Serbia's Vucic Resigns Presidency After Nine Years

Aleksandar Vucic resigned as Serbia's president on September 27, 2026, ending nine years in office seven months early. Barred from a third term, he will lead the Progressive Party into the Oct. 25 parliamentary vote as its prime-ministerial candidate. Speaker Ana Brnabic becomes interim president pending a presidential election within three months.
