Swiss voters reject stricter neutrality rule, projection shows 71% opposed

An SRG/GFS Bern election-day projection showed Swiss voters rejecting the 'Safeguard Swiss neutrality' initiative in the 27 September 2026 referendum, about 71% opposed to 29% in favour. The text sought to define neutrality as "perpetual and armed" in the constitution. The government, parliament and nearly all major parties opposed it.
