Passenger assaults on Britain's railways hit record 13,464, up 36%

The Office of Rail and Road recorded 13,464 reported assaults against passengers and the public on Great Britain's mainline railway in 2025-26, up 36% on the previous year. It is the highest total since tracking began in 2004. I will be watching whether the rise reflects more reporting or greater risk as journeys rebound.
