Earl Spencer apologised to Piers Morgan on 22 September 2026, publication day for Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, for wrongly claiming Morgan published intrusive gym photos of Diana. The Sunday Mirror published them on 7 November 1993, when Morgan worked at The Sun; he joined the Daily Mirror in October 1995. Morgan had threatened to sue.
