Philips Hue and Nanoleaf spent 18 months building a direct hardware integration rather than routing through Matter, because Matter's current specification handles on/off, dimming, and color control but cannot carry the gradient scenes and entertainment sync that Hue required. The $39.99 module, available September 3, 2026, snaps onto Nanoleaf Shapes panels and bridges them into the Hue ecosystem over Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Thread concurrently.
