Government rewrites disability bill after 3,000 submissions, guarantees no cuts to entitlements or extra family care burden

Disability Issues Minister Louise Upston announced amendments to the Disability Support Services Bill after more than 3,000 public submissions. The changes make explicit that existing entitlements, funding and eligibility will not change, and no additional care expectations will be placed on families. Upston acknowledged the bill's original intent "was not as clear as it should have been."
