HateAid Files Criminal Complaint Against Meta's Smart Glasses in Germany

Berlin-based HateAid filed a criminal complaint against Meta, Ray-Ban, Oakley, and retailers under Germany's Telecommunications, Digital Services and Data Protection Act, which bars selling covert recording devices. HateAid argues bystanders cannot reliably detect when the glasses record, and wants location-based recording restrictions like those governing dashcams and bodycams.
