
Human Rights Foundation urges Kāinga Ora to drop eviction conditions
A Human Rights Foundation report launched in Wellington on 10 August 2026 says Kāinga Ora should stop evicting tenants for "antisocial behaviour" or failing to follow a payment plan. The report checked government housing initiatives against United Nations decency standards and found those tenancy conditions breach the right to housing. RNZ sought comment from Associate Housing Minister Tama Potaka.
