Europe's Weather Agencies Flag Extended Heat Risk Into Autumn
Météo-France reports rising temperatures across southern France from August 7. The UK Met Office expects heat returning later in August. Spain's AEMET forecasts above-normal temperatures nationwide through October. This follows France's hottest recorded month — July 2026 — which brought two heat waves and placed 37 departments under red vigilance, the highest alert level. The 2026 heat season is re-entering an active phase, not ending.
