Greens propose $2.44b marae trust run by hapū and iwi, outside Crown control

The Green Party wants a NZ$2.44 billion fund for marae, owned and run entirely by hapū and iwi. The government could not direct investments, appoint trustees or override funding decisions. Co-leader Marama Davidson said marae were critical infrastructure needing funding certainty.
