Greens propose $2.44 billion fund for marae, run by Māori not government

The Green Party wants a NZ$2.44 billion fund for marae — the meeting grounds central to Māori community life. Local Māori groups (hapū and iwi) would own and run it entirely, with no government say over spending or appointments.
