Amazon Backs Texas Gas Plant With CO2 Permit Larger Than Biggest U.S. Coal Plant

Amazon confirmed it is investing in a 7.65 GW gas plant in Pecos County, Texas, to power a dedicated data center. The GW Ranch project holds a permit allowing up to 33 million tons of CO2 — more than the largest U.S. coal plant. The facility would operate off-grid, outside ERCOT oversight.
