Amazon Investing in Texas Gas Plant to Power Data Center

Amazon confirmed it is investing in a large natural-gas plant in Pecos County, Texas, to power a data center. The plant's permit allows up to 33 million tons of CO2 emissions — more than the biggest U.S. coal plant. The facility would run off the main power grid, outside state grid oversight. Amazon's emissions have risen for years, driven by AI computing needs.
