Microsoft Edge Begins Phasing Out MV2 Extensions, Targeting Full Consumer Shift by End of 2026

Microsoft Edge will start disabling Manifest V2 extensions by default for consumers in August 2026, rolling out first through Canary, Dev, and Beta channels before reaching Stable. The transition to Manifest V3 is set to finish by end of 2026. Users will be notified before MV2 extensions are turned off and directed to recommended MV3 replacements where available.
